Football Club "Valor" in Ropaži have started football lessons including children from the Asylum Seekers Accommodation Center "Mucenieki".
Four children of different ages have already actively participated in the first lesson. By the end of October the municipality of Ropaži has signed an agreement with FC "Valor" for conducting football lessons for mixed groups, where international children are also integrated into the game together with local children. The club also provides children with transportation to and from classes.
One of main activity of the project "Measures related to integration in Muceniekos" is integration of children and young people into the local community through football lessons, considering it as one of the most effective ways.
Referring to the recommendations from experts of Elverum minicipality, participation in football means not only the integration but also effective communication through the game, promotion of understanding of different cultures, opportunities for socialization, as well as knowledge and acceptance in other ways. Lessons will be provided until the spring of 2024. The lessons are paid from the project "Measures related to integration in Muceniekos" (No. LV-LOCALDEV-0007). The project is implemented in the program "Local development, poverty alleviation and cultural cooperation" co-financed by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through EEA grants.
